Tuesday Treasures - Our beloved pets

This week i'm linking with the lovely Melody at The House on the Side of the Hill to share one of our family's greatest treasures: Blackie!
I long time ago, when I was a teenager I had a little lady dog, unfortunately 12 years later she had to be put to sleep for she had an incurable tumor and was in great suffering. That day I promised not to have a pet again for my heart was broken to pieces.
Never say never. My DD and DS were asking for ages for a dog, they were so insistent that I finally agreed. Last August Blackie came into our lives and nothing will ever be the same. It's unbelievable how we got to love him so much in only six months.

He he the cutest thing ever. So cute and so clever. How could we live without him?

I'm working on it...

After I received the beautiful fabrics from Lark Cottons I could hardly wait until the week-end to begin.

Yesterday afternoon I began cutting and today I've sewn a couple of blocks

Unfortunately I had chores to do and so the fun had to stop. I'll try to sew a little during the week.
I haven't decided on the final pattern but I've got two or three ideas, will see!

It's going to be a great Week-end

Today the mail man brought me a package from the lovely Heather. She is the owner of Lark Cottons, a great on line quilting store.

Aren't they wonderful? Just my kind of colors.

She sent me a beautiful bundle of fabric. I can't wait to start cutting into it.

I have already began designing my quilt:
It's gonna be a great week-end!!!

Just testing- Design Wall Monday

I'm working on a pattern to make a new quilt. My very  own pattern. I've spent the week end drawing and painting. I want to make a scrappy quilt so yesterday afternoon I made a little pattern tester.
I will probably make other attempts. For now I have made a new pillow!

Schnibbles anyone?

Many bloggers are doing " Another Year of Schnibbles" and many did the same last year so I thought...
I'd love to make some of those little and beautiful quilts. If anyone has a pattern or even one of the books but doesn't want it anymore I would be willing to buy it at a reasonable price. If you are one of those persons or know someone like that please send me an e-mail. You can find it on the top of my blog. It's the "Contact me" label.
Thank you very much my dear blogger and quilter friends.

FNSI- What I Acomplished

Last night I finished the last six blocks of my Rounneries Deux Quilt.

The 20 blocks are ready to assemble but I have a big issue... Should I use sashing? What color?

 Cream sashing ?

              Dark red sashing ?
Or no sashing at all?

Please, my friends,  give me your advice, leave me a hint on what would look better!!!

Blogger is going NUTS!!!

Have you noticed the word verification change on Blogger. Instead of one word we have to write two words but one of them is  impossible to read.
The new word verification is a pain, We can't read the white on black, Sometimes I have  to do it three times on a comment...people are going to stop leaving comments if this keeps happening. I have removed the word vetification of my blog so will see what happens. Maybe we can complain to Blogger...I Don't Know!

WIP WEDNESDAY - Hand quilting and stitching

This week has been dedicated to hand quilting and stitching. It's the best kind of craft to do in the cold evenings while I watch a little TV.

I'm hand quilting this table topper. I love these fabrics, this line is Buttercup from Fig Tree. My stitches are still a bit crocked  but I'm getting more consistency as long as I continue the work.

I finally decided I'd stitch the four sashing corners of my Valentine's mini quilt.

I've only stitched one corner yet. I'll try to finish it this week-end.

To find more about our works in progress just kink up with Lee at Freshly Pieced.

Design Wall Monday - My Aunt Sarah's Quilt

My very modified version Of Aunt Sarah's quilt is finally ready to be quilted. I finished sewing the border to the main quilt.

I first planned to  hand sew all around but I had to give it up and did it using the sewing machine. I looks pretty well...I think.

I have a new sponsor - Lark Cottons

I am so glad to share with you a new sponsor on my blog. It’s the online fabric shop Lark Cottons! Lark Cottons is owned and operated by Heather in Portland, Oregon. She is a growing shop of over 400 bolts of beautiful fabrics. Heather sells fabric in 1/2 yard increments as well as Fat Quarters (love when shops offer FQs!)
Heather also has a blog - Green Pea Studio.Besides staying busy with Lark Cottons, she also sells beautiful fabrics at her Etsy shop.
Thank you very much, Heather!!!

A finish and Rouenneries Deux

To day I finished my  mini Tenessee Road quilt. I quilted it during the week and today I sewed the biding. It's finished!

I quilted it on my domestic sewing machine with flowers and loops. I'm still a free motion beginner so forgive me the imperfections.

Rounneries  Deux

Fat Quarter Shop is sponsoring my blog and they sent me the most wonderful Rounneries Deux charm packs. The fabric is gorgeous. I loved it so much that I didn't want to cut into it. Then I decided I had to choose the right pattern to enhance the beauty of the line. After a lot of thinking I went for a quite simple pattern in order to show all the great prints instead of distracting ones eye with an intricate pattern.

After a couple of hours I already had made seven of these blocks The fabric is wonderful, smooth as silk but is doesn't fray or stretch. It was very easy to sew and to get all the seams to match. The quality of the material really matters.

In the afternoon I couldn't stop and did more seven. This is how it looks so far

Forgive me the poor light on the photos. I still use my bed as a design wall and the light is kind of yellowish.
What do you think, should I use sashing between the blocks or not? Please give me your kind advice.

February block is here!!!

The mail man delivered my February block from QBSA. It came from Linda in the USA. This year I decided to make a friendship quilt, so I've asked for an autograph star that should be signed by it's maker. I think it will be a great quilt. This is the lovely block Linda made me

Tuesday Treasures

This week I'm showing my Big box. You know i love boxes and this is one of my favorites. It's a jewelry box.

I love the paysley. And the two drawers are big enough to put all my stuff
And then it has a great hidden feature, when you open the lid you get a mirror.

February Hearts

Last year  Robyn at Daisy Quilts released a free valentine pattern- February Hearts. I loved the project at once but I didn't have any fabric in the right colors or prints.
This year I got my fabrics in time to make the pattern. It's lovely, I've made the top but I still don't know wether to do the stitchery or not. Anyway I'm very happy, it turned out just like I thought it would. Thank you Robyn for sharing such a wonderful pattern.

One of the pieced hearts blocks. I paper pieced the hearts, I find it easier and all the seams match perfectly.

          The four blocks sewed together

          Adding the scrappy border

                        The finished  quilt top

What do you think? Should I do the stitchery or just quilt it just as it is?
